    When to use

    A precise description of the defect (location and deviation from the target state), the request to rectify it, and a reasonable deadline. Blanket notices are usually not sufficient.

    Under a VOB/B contract, the deadlines and forms of the VOB/B apply (§ 4 or § 13); otherwise the BGB works-contract law (§ 634 ff.). Which basis applies should be clarified case by case.
